Having Our Own Way

Having our own way is what gets us into trouble in the first place, the second place and every place. It is always what gets us into trouble and it is always what keeps us there. Having our own way is the cause of eternal damnation.

Having their own way is what Adam and Eve wanted in the Garden of Eden.

Having their own way is what the people of Israel wanted as they wandered in the wilderness.

Psalms 106:15: And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

Having our own way is what we want just like Adam and Eve and the people of Israel.

Isaiah 53:6: All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Proverbs 14:12: There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Psalms 14:3: They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Romans 3:10: As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Romans 3:12: They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Proverbs 3:5: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

At some point we must relinquish having our own way in favor of God having His way. The first time we do that will be when we receive Jesus Christ. The first time we do that will be the moment we are saved. The first time we do that will be the first evidence of faith in Him. Insisting on our own way is unbelief in God.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Ephesians 2:8: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

By relinquishing our will to His will we should learn that doing that leads to blessing and we should do it daily and perhaps many times daily. It is Adam and Eve*s way or God*s way. It is the people of Israel*s way or God*s way. It is our own way our God*s way.
